The Pumpkin Drop. October 20, 2016

The Pumpkin Drop was located at City Side Track in Hinton on October 20th. Summers Middle School students were in charge of constructing a contraption to prevent their pumpkin from busting when being dropped from the 5 story high platform. We saw a wide variety of material used including; pillows, cotton balls, balloons, tape, boxes, padding of all sorts, even including socks!

There were approximately 200 students participating and 63 total pumpkins dropped. Of the 63 pumpkins dropped, there were only 4 to survive the fall!

Kids, students, and all involved had a wonderful time. We would like to say “thank you” to Kroger for giving us a good deal on the pumpkins, City of Hinton, City Works employees, Mayor Joe Blankenship, Nicole Miller, Summers County Board of Education, and everyone who helped make our event a success!
